Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation (Local)
Sewa TT is dedicated to ongoing preparation of the organization to be prepared to respond and assist in times of disaster. This involves research, planning, education of the public about disaster preparedness and the creation of a network of service providers and volunteers who can assist in times of need.
In 2016, 2017 and 2018 we responded to severe flooding which occurred in areas of North, Central and South Trinidad. We coordinated the provision of meals, groceries, cleaning supplies, health care and laundry services to persons who had been severely impacted.
Additionally, in 2017, Sewa TT arranged the donation of basic necessities to citizens of Dominica following the devastation to the country following Hurricane Maria and Irma.
Objectives of Disaster Relief & Rehabilitation (Local)
- To provide timely relief to those who need locally that is within our capacity
- To facilitate and coordinate members of the public assisting each other in a time of disaster
- To promote disaster preparedness
